Strap Strap bindings are the most common type of snowboard bindings, and they can be easily identified by the flexible straps (or sometimes a single strap) that connect across the top of the snowboard boot to hold it in place. A ratcheting buckle tightens the straps across the top of the ankle and toe of the boot.
