A shell for spring and fall, a fleece for spring, fall and cool summer nights. Finally the shell and fleece for winter. So many different options on how to wear this jacket.

when zipped in you cant get to all the shells inner stuff

Yes
When buying this jacket you are getting a jacket for 3 seasons --- together with the right base layer you will be good for whatever mountain has to throw at you.
And then zip, you have a nice insulator to wear to dinner or zip and you have a shell to keep to dry
