I just got back from using the Spire Pant for a ski vacation in Utah with -33 degree weather. I wore heavy long underwear, fleece pants with Gore Windstopper and the Spire shell. I kept warm and dry the whole time and did not have any sweat build up, even though I was telemark skiing. The powder cuff and zippers worked great.
I would have preferred to have a medium/long, but that sizing did not seem to exist, so I bought a large and have to use a belt as well as suspenders.
It would be better if the suspenders crossed in the back to keep them on my shoulders better and ended up crossing them anyway. i would also like to see a larger edge guard at the cuff. I had some ski cuts just outside of the edge guard.
This is a high quality garment, as is all my Marmot gear, and should work great for backcountry and on piste skiing.
