Merino wool is the best base layer that money can buy. It is super soft and breathable. Wool is the perfect insulating layer. It keeps your skin dry and is naturally microbial. Go for the boot top length when skiing. You should only have your sock in your boot.

I won't wear anything else other than Boot Top base layers for skiing and this Smartwool 250 are by far one of the best. They are very warm and are moisture wicking as well. I've skied in well below zero conditions and these have helped keep me warm.

Smartwool NTS base layer is fantastic... it's warm and wicks incredibly well. I will only wear boot length bottoms so I don't have any seams or extra layers inside my boot that could cause rubbing or limit circulation.

Just love Smartwool mid weight base layer. Extremely comfortable and warm. It is a great moisture wicker for those high aerobic days on the slopes. The bother cut is a must have. The only things that should be in your ski or snowboard boot is your foot and a Smartwool sock!

Smartwool makes some awesome stuff. The mid weight base layers are the warmest base layers I own. The ski boot cut pants, ensure there's no excess fabric ruining the fit inside your boot, or flopping around inside your pants. Great idea, great product
