ThermoBall insulates like down with none of the drawbacks of down, particularly down's inability to function when wet. It also costs much less. This jacket is the ideal layering jacket for very cold conditions.

This is an awesome, high quality piece. From a warmth to weight ratio, it is about as good as it gets. From a traveling perspective, it is highly packable and would be an asset on almost any trip where there could be any sort of inclement weather. I personally this jacket as an outer layer on a "warmer" day of skiing, and wear it as an insulating layer under my shell on colder days.

I've been using North Face thermoball for a little over a year. Whether I'm riding, hiking, climbing or just need a jacket for the day this one's the one. Perfect for layering due to its lightweight but looks good enough to wear out.

Just like most of The North Face product, this jacket is awesome! Great fit, high quality and useful for many different activities. Whether you're hiking, climbing, skiing or just out by a campfire on a cool fall night, this is the go-to jacket. Very light weight and easy to stuff that it makes the perfect jacket for backpacking trips as well. The synthetic down helps make this jacket dry quickly if it ever gets wet. Buy this versatile jacket and you will not be disappointed!

My favorite jacket. I can wear this in spring, fall or winter. Its versatile and packs so easy it makes it great for layering under a shell or just rocking it as an outer layer after a long day on the slopes. It's also pretty water resistant and that makes it great for rainy days.

I love this jacket. Super light, super warm. I wear it as an everyday jacket as well as on the mountain. It is even light enough to wear as an insulator piece under a shell. water resistant, not water-proof, but will still keep you warm when wet.

I bought this jacket about 4 years ago, and I take it almost everywhere I travel. This jacket is great for a cooler day/night where your winter jacket is just too much. I have worn this through rain storms, snow storms, and although its not completely waterproof it has kept me relatively dry through all of it. One of my favorite features of this jacket though is that it can fold up into the pocket and it becomes a pillow (hence why I take it everywhere). I have used it on flights, long car trips, or when I have to crash on a couch at a friends. This jacket comes in handy no matter what!
